Behind the Scenes: Giving the Gift of Sight

What happens after someone donates a pair of eyeglasses to a Lions Club? Last weekend, members of the Dallas Founder Lions Club found out firsthand while volunteering at the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center.

Our team sorted, cleaned, inspected, measured, organized, and packaged thousands of donated eyeglasses, helping prepare them for future vision clinics and humanitarian missions. It was a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at one of the signature service projects of Lions Clubs
International.

Every pair of glasses tells a story. For someone who no longer needs them, they're easy to forget in a drawer. For someone else, they can mean the ability to read, learn, work, and experience the world more clearly.

We're grateful to every club member who volunteered their time to make a difference and to the dedicated volunteers who keep the recycling center operating year-round. Together, we're helping transform donated eyeglasses into the gift of sight.
