Celebrating Service and Diversity at the 2025 Lions District 2-X1 Convention
Dallas Founder Lions Club shines at an unforgettable weekend of leadership, inclusion, and recognition
The 2025 District 2-X1 Convention, held April 25–26, was an unforgettable gathering of nearly 250 Lions and guests from across North Texas. The weekend was filled with inspiration, celebration, and connection—and the Dallas Founder Lions Club was at the heart of the action.
The convention kicked off Friday with a dynamic keynote address from International Director Lion Robert "Ski" Marcinkowski, visiting from Alaska. His presence added a special sense of global unity to the event and underscored Lions Clubs International’s commitment to service and inclusion.
A highlight of the evening was the debut of the Cultural Attire Fashion Show, introduced by the Convention Committee and organized by our very own club president, Dr. Nia MacKay. Over 25 Lions proudly walked the stage in attire representing their cultural heritage—from Japan, Nepal, and Slovenia to Mexico, Cuba, the Philippines, and even the great state of Texas—showcasing the rich diversity that defines District 2-X1.
That same evening, Lion Jeff Strater, incoming President of the Dallas Founder Lions Club, was formally inducted alongside ten other incoming club presidents. We also welcomed four new members—Lions Felix Gaytan, Lina Berryhill, Amy Esaka, and Mayda Reynolds—who were inducted with fellow new Lions from DalCliff Wynnewood and Grand Prairie Host Clubs. Both induction ceremonies were graciously led by ID Ski Marcinkowski.
Saturday’s Award Luncheon was filled with even more moments of pride. Dr. Nia MacKay was recognized for her service as East Region Chair with a District appreciation plaque. At the evening’s Grassroots Banquet, the Dallas Founder Lions Club received a trophy for Service Reporting and Membership Growth, two District Leadership Appreciation pendants, and a moment of special pride as Lion Maggie Lopez was honored with the Grassroots Award for her outstanding contributions. Associate Members PCC Joseph Montag and PCC John Eads were each recognized with Live Achievement Awards.
District awards also honored Lion Joseph Kyle as Lion of the Year, and Dallas Everest Lions Club as Club of the Year.
The convention concluded with the results of the district election. We proudly celebrate our very own Dr. Nia MacKay’s election as 2nd Vice District Governor. Congratulations to the full incoming leadership team: District Governor Elect Lion Kedar Timalsina, 1st Vice District Governor Elect Lion Gary Vineyard, and 2nd Vice District Governor Elect Dr. Nia MacKay. Their new terms begin July 1, 2025.
Congratulations to all Lions for an incredible weekend of celebration, achievement, and commitment to service. We’re just getting started.
