Modern Policing & Community Trust: A Conversation with Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux
Modern Policing & Community Trust: A Conversation with Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux
As part of the Dallas Founder Lions Club’s commitment to civic dialogue, Chief Daniel Comeaux will offer insight into the future of policing in Dallas.
On Friday, June 6, the Dallas Founder Lions Club will welcome Chief Daniel C. Comeaux, Chief of Police for the City of Dallas, as our featured speaker. With more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement, from local community policing to national leadership roles, Chief Comeaux
brings a thoughtful and wide-ranging perspective to one of the most important topics facing our city: public safety and trust.
This event is part of the Dallas Founder Lions Club’s community speaker series, a cornerstone of our programming and a vital way we connect service with civic life. Key community speakers have been a defining part of our club's legacy for over a century, reflecting our commitment to
education, leadership, and public dialogue.
A National Career, A Local Mission
Chief Comeaux began his law enforcement career in 1991 withthe Houston Police Department, focusing on community engagement, narcotics, enforcement, and high-risk investigations. In 1997, he joined the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), where he held leadership roles in Houston,
San Francisco, and Los Angeles. As Special Agent in Charge of the DEA’s Houston Field Division, he supervised operations across Texas and worked closely with local, state, and federal agencies to reduce violent crime through intelligence-led strategies and cross-agency collaboration. His approach emphasized innovation, accountability, and building public trust—principles he continues to champion
as Dallas Police Chief.
Now leading one of the largest police departments in the country, Chief Comeaux is focused on intelligence-driven crime reduction, community engagement, recruitment, and transparency. His leadership reflects a modern approach to policing that balances public safety with trust-building and
accountability.
A Legacy of Leadership
Chief Comeaux joins a long list of respected leaders whohave spoken at our meetings in recent months. Our speaker series has featured Dallas ISD Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Elizalde, Dallas College El Centro President Dr. Bradford Williams, and DISD Trustee Joe Carreon—leaders who are
shaping the future of education in our city. We’ve also welcomed Dallas County Treasurer Pauline Medrano and Judge Audrey Moorehead of Dallas County Criminal Court No. 3, both of whom bring deep experience in public service and county leadership.
Civic voices such as Council Member Omar Narvaez, former Mayor Pro Tem Adam Medrano, journalist and author Rena Pederson, attorney and historian Sol Villasana, Beckie Callahan of the Japan-America Society of DFW, and Juan Galvan of Downtown Dallas Inc. have also joined us to share their perspectives. These programs offer our members and guests from across the city
a chance to hear directly from the individuals shaping Dallas’s civic, educational, and cultural future. Whether discussing public safety, criminal justice, healthcare, education, or community development, our speakers exemplify the Lions Club’s mission: to serve, to connect, and to lead with
purpose.
